Volunteer Opportunities

The Salisbury University Staff Senate (SUSS) encourages members of the SU community to get involved in being a volunteer. Below are just some of the ways you can make an impact in our community.

SU Day of Service

In support of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s "Day to Serve" Campaign, SU provided employees four hours of paid leave to volunteer with a non-profit in 2019. Many faculty, staff and students already are involved in the community, and they also could assist with projects suggested by the Staff Senate for Chesapeake Housing Mission, Habitat For Humanity and Hope And Life Outreach (HALO).

The Chesapeake Housing Mission organization was formed to provide vital housing repair services through Christian Mission to low-income families living in the Chesapeake Region and was recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit in July 2009. We work with volunteer teams from local organizations allowing them to help families in need in Maryland’s Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.

Hope And Life Outreach (HALO)

In 2004, the Center of Hope was started as an outreach ministry of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.  This ministry was designed to help meet the needs of the homeless and hurting in the tri-county area.
