GSU Cares

Want to change the world one random of kindness at a time? Find out how the GSU staff goes the extra mile to show the students at SU that they care.

A Community That Cares

The Guerrieri Student Union launched GSU Cares in spring 2012 to foster an avid community of civility by inspiring SU students to practice random acts of kindness and to pass that kindness on to other members of the SU community. From distributing random compliment cards to giving ponchos to students on rainy days, this program aims to brighten your day and inspire you to pass kindness along.

Tournament of Trees

During the holidays, GSU Cares sponsors an annual Tournament of Trees. Each year, organizations are given the opportunity to decorate a 3-foot, pre-lit tree, which is then judged based on originality and creativity. The decorated trees are displayed in the Fireside Lounge for a week and then personally delivered by GSU staff to multiple charity recipients. The holiday event involves fun-spirited competition among various RSOs, LLCs and residence halls. In recent years, the decorated trees were donated to local charities including Village of Hope, Christian Shelter and Women Supporting Women.
