Our program is aligned with the Areas of Responsibility of a Health Education Specialist, developed by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Upon completion of the program, you are eligible and prepared to become a certified health education specialist.
We also prioritize experiential learning, and opportunities for hands-on experience abound. Students in our program complete a semester-long internship where they apply course material to a practical experience in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nonprofit organizations, corporations and government departments.
Students also have the opportunity to become a part of Eta Sigma Gamma, the only national health education honorary. Its mission is to promote the highest possible standards in education, research and service within the discipline of health education through student-led chapters in colleges and universities across the United States.

Meet Your Public Health Faculty:
Deneen Long-White
Dr. Deneen Long-White is very proactive in the Public Health Program at SU and in her field, engaging with students in health initiatives on campus and dedicating herself to the quality of health education in the greater Salisbury community. She is the project director and principal investigator of the Salisbury University Eastern Shore Opioid-Impacted Family Support Program, which aims to increase the number of professionals who are prepared to work with families who are impacted by opioid use disorders and other substance use disorders.
