Salisbury University students on campus

May 28 - Return to the Workplace

5/28/2020 3:00 p.m.

Members of the Campus Community:

In accordance with guidance from Governor Larry Hogan and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, SU will implement new safety protocols for critical employees coming to campus.

Beginning Monday, June 1, all employees will need to complete a daily COVID-19 screening before reporting to their regular worksites. At screening locations, employees will be required to answer a short list of questions regarding symptoms before swiping their Gull Cards or providing their employee ID numbers for clearance to proceed to work. All employees should have their Gull Cards ready and know their employee ID numbers before entering the screening line.

Weekday screening locations are:

  • 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. – Avery Street Lot (drive-up, enter from West College Avenue, exit onto Avery Street)
  • 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. – Wayne Street Parking Garage (drive-up, Wayne Street entrance/exit)
  • All other times – SU Police Department, East Campus Complex, Power Street (walk-up, at door)

All weekend screenings will take place at the SU Police Department.

The screenings follow guidance provided by the Maryland Department of Budget and Management for entry into state buildings. SU contractors also are required to complete a screening at one of the above locations before reporting to worksites on campus. Those found to have symptoms of COVID-19 will be given instructions regarding self-confining and seeking medical care.

This is part of a phased plan for employees returning to campus. During this phase, only those employees with approval on file with the Human Resources Office should report to campus, and only as scheduled. While on campus, employees should have their Gull Cards visibly displayed at all times and wear face masks as appropriate.

More information is available in the attached Faculty and Staff Guide for Returning to Campus. This document also will be posted on the SU COVID webpage and updated as the situation changes.

Those with questions about the new protocol, or about their critical/non-critical employee status, should contact their supervisors. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our campus safe.
