Benjamin Lausch

Ben, a Marketing major, has been diligently working to create short professional interview videos of Honors College students to highlight their creative project and provide an outlet for these students to share their experience. These videos help document the amazing work that the students do through the Honors College and will aid future honors students looking for inspiration or guidance when starting their creative project. Ben’s videos are on display in the lobby of the Perdue School of Business.

Dominick Lepke

Dom, a double major in Accounting and Information Systems, has been actively researching decentralized currency as it relates to financial crime and money laundering. He has proposed Project Decentralized Reporting Standards (PDRS) to provide a framework of oversight for decentralized currency, an avenue for whistleblowing on the platforms, and assist law enforcement in reaching needed information on cryptocurrency platforms. He has published his first research paper, Tactics to Prevent the Use of Blockchain Technology as a Facilitator for Laundering Money, in the Laridae Undergraduate Academic Journal Fall 2022 with plans to present the research in future seminars.

Braden Glushakow and Caroline Bandelin
Braden and Caroline, both marketing majors, competed in the Collegiate Maxi Oral Case Competition organized by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington Educational Foundation. They worked as a team with Professor Irina Piatselchyts to create an integrated marketing communications plan for a designated organization, which was announced prior to the competition. The competition culminated with a 15-minute presentation where they discussed things such as their proposed strategy, a sample of their creative campaign, expense budget, and their projected revenue. Best of all, they won!

Garrett, a double major in Accounting and Information Systems, worked with Mr. David Weber to prepare training and documentation for students in the experiential learning Fraud and Forensic Accounting Certificate Program at SU. Garrett had already taken the courses in the program and identified a need for new students coming into the program.

Ayden Zuber researched the cybersecurity services offered by local businesses and their effectiveness compared to the costs required for program upkeep, as well as the psychological effects of cybersecurity as a whole.

Kristal Racco

Kristal, an Accounting major, centered her project around awareness events for the Wicomico Humane Society and researching fundraising practices from local businesses and social media platforms. She held several fundraising events on campus to collect donations and material goods in addition to coordinating students to visit and interact with the dogs and cats currently at the Humane Society.

Josey, a double major in Marketing and Creative Writing, developed a Writing for Business workshop for Business students in an effort to introduce the Writing Center services to the Perdue School of Business. Her goal was to highlight to students the importance of writing in all aspects of business from emails to cover letters and resumes to business proposals and introduce tools and programs available on campus to assist with business writing assignments.

Lindsey, a finance major, worked with Dr. Aaron Johnson to create and implement a financial literacy teaching module designed for local high school students. After developing the module, she guest lectured at Parkside High School to students in a Business and Finance course.

Kaylynn Boswell
Kaylynn Boswell worked with victims of fraud, specifically elderly victims, by creating educational materials and holding seminars on the dangers of online fraud crimes. Older individuals who are not aware of the dangers online are prime targets for scammers. Many will willingly, and unknowingly hand over valuable information to the wrong people. Many of the victims live in retirement homes away from family and friends who could potentially help them avoid these dangers. The goal of this project was to work with victims of these crimes to educate them on the recurring dangers on the internet in a digital world.

Samantha Schorr researched the impact that United Way has on the Lower Eastern Shore and worked to increase awareness of the role Student United Way plays within the community. She explored ways to encourage more college students to volunteer in the community.
