Community-Engaged Research
Advancing knowledge through collaboration, equity, and real-world impact.
At the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC), we believe that impactful research begins with authentic partnerships — where community voices shape the questions, guide the methods, and benefit from the outcomes. We collaborate with Salisbury University faculty, staff, students, and community organizations to address the complex social, behavioral, and environmental factors that influence health and well-being. Together, we pursue research that promotes health equity, responds to community-identified needs, and informs sustainable solutions.
How We Help Researchers
The CHC provides essential support to help move your work forward:
- Promote Equitable, Ethical Research Practices
CHC champions research practices that are culturally responsive, ethically grounded, and equity-driven. We work with investigators to ensure their projects center the voices of underrepresented populations and follow best practices. - Provide Technical Assistance & Capacity Building
We offer individualized support in proposal development, project design, evaluation planning, and knowledge translation. Our goal is to help you build a research approach that is rigorous, feasible, and aligned with community impact. - Share Results & Amplify Impact
We assist with dissemination strategies that ensure findings are accessible and actionable. This includes helping you present your work to community audiences, policy stakeholders, and the academic community through briefs, events, publications, and more.
Our Areas of Focus
Community-engaged research through CHC often addresses themes such as:
- Social determinants of health
- Health disparities and equity
- Rural and underserved populations
- Behavioral and mental health
