Financial Aid

Take the First Step...

Don't let finances deter you from meeting your goals. Numerous scholarships in varying amounts are awarded to nursing students annually. Through the State of Maryland's Non-Resident Tuition Reduction for Nursing Students, for example, out-of-state students pursuing a nursing degree can pay in-state tuition at SU simply by agreeing to practice nursing in Maryland. The eligibility requirements for this tuition reduction are:

  • You must be a resident of a state other than Maryland
  • You must enroll each semester as a degree seeking full-time (12+ credits per semester) or part-time (6 - 11 credits per semester) undergraduate. Audited courses cannot be used to reach the minimum credit hours required for full-time or part-time status.
  • You must be accepted into and remain enrolled in a nursing program leading to a degree in nursing at Maryland community college or four-year institution. This tuition reduction is only available to juniors and seniors after they have been admitted into the nursing program. Pre-nursing students are not eligible. There are numerous other scholarships awarded by the School of Nursing each spring for which current students in the upper-division coursework and incoming juniors accepted to begin the upper-division courses may apply for consideration. There are also scholarships available to incoming freshmen nursing majors awarded by Committee selection only, as well as, opportunities outside the school to which students currently enrolled in the nursing major may apply.

Recent recipients of the Robert Wood Johnson New Careers in Nursing Scholarship gathered for a photograph before returning to class. Salisbury University is one of 52 schools nationwide to receive this scholarship grant. As a three-time award recipient, SU uses these scholarships to increase diversity in its Second Degree B.S.N. program. The RWJF New Careers in Nursing program was developed to promote academic success, mentorship and leadership development in groups under-represented in nursing and those with economic disadvantage.
