Classroom Course Option: The American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and respiratory therapists. During this 2-day course, cardiac rhythm analysis, pharmacologic and electrical therapies, and airway management for the pediatric population will be addressed. The course will address all aspects of pediatric emergency care. To successfully complete the course, the student must complete all learning stations, pass a written exam, demonstrate proficiency in CPR/AED utilization, and pass two Megacode testing stations. This course is designed for the healthcare professionals and students whose careers and educational programs require a course completion card in AHA PALS. Suggested program participants include: physicians; nurses; paramedics; emergency medical technicians; respiratory therapists; physical, occupational and speech therapists; physician assistants; medical or nursing students; aids; medical or nursing assistants; and other allied health personnel. A current BLS card, basic knowledge of emergency pediatric care, and completion of a dysrhythmia course are pre-requisites to this comprehensive course offering.
Hybrid Course Option: The American Heart Association (AHA) HeartCode® Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and respiratory therapists. The course will address cardiac rhythm analysis, pharmacologic and electrical therapies, and airway management for the pediatric population. This course is designed for the healthcare professionals and students whose careers and educational programs require a course completion card in AHA PALS. Suggested program participants include: physicians; nurses; paramedics; emergency medical technicians; respiratory therapists; physical, occupational and speech therapists; physician assistants; medical or nursing students; aids; medical or nursing assistants; and other allied health personnel. To successfully complete this course, one must complete all 3 of the following components. Part 1, an online cognitive portion; Part 2, a hands-on skills session where students have the opportunity for one-on-one practice time with an AHA ACLS Instructor; and Part 3, a skills test. Upon successful completion of all three parts, students receive their healthcare provider course completion card. A current BLS card, basic knowledge of emergency care, and completion of a dysrhythmia course are pre-requisites to this comprehensive course offering.
