Dual-degree Engineering Transfer at Salisbury University
About the Dual-degree Engineering Transfer Program
The Dual-degree Engineering Transfer Program offers students the opportunity to earn both a degree in physics from Salisbury University and an engineering degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited engineering program. Under the program, a student normally attends SU for three years and an engineering school for two years. While at SU, students complete all required General Education courses, the physics major core and appropriate engineering courses. Students then apply for admission into an ABET-accredited engineering program, where they transfer to the receiving institution to complete their engineering courses.
The curriculum at SU fully prepares students for a rigorous and rewarding career in physics and engineering. From student organizations to research and internships, opportunities abound for students to get the most out of their education and move confidently into a professional setting. SU students have completed internships with employers including the National Science Foundation, FBI and National Security Agency. Other opportunities include Caltech’s WAVE Fellows program, which aims to foster diversity by increasing the participation of underrepresented students in science and engineering Ph.D. programs.
Courses of Study
In addition to classes, SU provides undergraduate research opportunities to help students organize and communicate scientific results and become successful science professionals. With close faculty mentoring, students have conducted research on a variety of topics including extragalactic elemental abundances, stellar evolution and supernovae, robotics building and design, alternative energies such as wind and solar, computational surface physics, biomedical physics, quantum mechanics, remote sensing and high-altitude balloon electronics.
