Important Safety Policies
As part of an ongoing effort to ensure safe and enjoyable Commencement ceremonies, Salisbury University will adhere to strict policies regarding safety. Please review these policies in advance, paying particular attention to prohibited items and the clear bag restrictions.
SU maintains state and federal capacity and fire code guidelines to ensure the safety of all guests. Tickets are required to ensure compliance with safety protocols. There will be a strict no-reentry policy for the Commencement ceremonies.
Safety Procedures
Salisbury University reserves the right to inspect all bags, strollers, wheelchairs and guests at the venue entrances.
To ensure everyone’s safety, metal detectors and/or wanding will be conducted of each guest entering the facilities. You will not be granted access to the facility if you refuse this procedure.
For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, please review the list of prohibited items. We ask that you kindly leave these items at home, as they will not be allowed in the Commencement venues.
Prohibited Items
- outside food and beverages (empty refillable water bottles are permitted)
- sticks, poles, flags and signs of any kind
- balloons
- illegal drugs
- alcohol (opened or unopened)
- tobacco/marijuana products of any kind, including e-cigarettes and vapes
- non-clear bags/purses (see clear bag policy below*)
- noisemakers of any kind, including air horns
- laser pointers
- weapons of any kind
- OC spray, pepper spray and mace
- non-ADA compliant service and comfort animals
- selfie sticks, Go-Pro cameras, tripods or monopods
- cameras with lenses over 8 inches, or that obstruct the view of others
- skateboards, hoverboards, bicycles or scooters
- drones or flying devices
- chairs
- large and golf-type umbrellas
- coolers
- paint, glitter, markers, confetti or streamers
- hard plastic masks or helmets
Clear Bag Policy
All guests must adhere to the Clear Bag Policy. Only clear bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" will be allowed into the ceremony venues. All other bags will not be permitted and guests will be asked to return prohibited items to their vehicles.
Smoke-Free Campus
SU is a smoke-free campus. Smoking, vaping, and all forms of tobacco and marijuana use are prohibited on all university-owned or controlled property, including Sea Gull Stadium. This policy reflects SU’s commitment to promoting healthy learning and work environments for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
