Some students may experience episodic disability-related symptoms that impact their ability to meet deadlines. Students approved for course assignment extensions must meet with their professors at the beginning of the semester—or when they present their Letter of Accommodations—to discuss what deadline flexibility may be reasonable for each course.
Faculty and students should clarify expectations during this conversation. OAA staff are available to consult with faculty and students, upon request, to help determine reasonable extensions.
Note:
- Extensions to the end of the semester are not considered reasonable.
- Accommodations are not retroactive and do not excuse previously missed deadlines.
- It is recommended that agreements be confirmed via email to ensure shared understanding; please include the Office of Access & Accommodations ( accommodations@salisbury.edu) on the finalized agreement.
Faculty are not required to waive essential elements of the course, but should engage in a good-faith effort to explore reasonable flexibility. If you have questions or concerns about implementing this accommodation, please contact the Office of Access & Accommodations.
