Frequently Asked Questions

1. Apply through the general admission process, be accepted, and commit to Salisbury University by submitting your deposit.
   
   
2. Complete and submit the Office of Access & Accommodations Student Application.
   
   
3. Submit documentation of a disability. Students are strongly encouraged to upload their disability documentation while completing their OAA Student Application.
   
   
4. A OAA staff member will contact you to schedule your Initial Intake Appointment to discuss your request for accommodations/services. This appointment is REQUIRED to complete the process of registering for accommodations/services.

The Office of Access & Accommodations is located on the second floor of Guerrieri Student Union Building, room 229 at Salisbury University (map).

While enrolled students can register with the OAA at any time, incoming first-year and transfer students are encouraged to register the semester prior to their first semester at SU. Students will be eligible to register with the OAA once they have “fully committed” to the University (deposit paid).  

No. Students requesting accommodations for standardized exams such as the Praxis, GRE, and LSAT must request reasonable accommodations directly from those entities. Please be aware that accommodations approved by OAA are not automatically guaranteed on standardized exams.

The OAA provides individualized academic skill-building support to help students strengthen areas such as time management, organization, study strategies, and test preparation. In addition, the OAA offers intake appointments, consultations, and ongoing outreach initiatives designed to promote access, inclusion, and self-advocacy. The office also facilitates programs such as social engagement groups, peer support opportunities, and transition programs like the OAA S.T.A.R.S. summer initiative for incoming students.

If you are not a registered student with the OAA, you may schedule a consultation appointment via phone (410-543-6087) or in-person in the Office of Access & Accommodations (Guerrieri Student Union room 229).

Any SU student with a documented disability and sufficient documentation from a professional are eligible to register for services. (See FAQ 12 for sufficient documentation criteria).

No. While the OAA may consider these types of documents as sufficient documentation in some cases, it is not guaranteed that a student will receive accommodations in college because they had them in high school.

No. Disclosure of a disability and reasonable accommodations/services are considered confidential and will not be noted on a student’s transcript or permanent record.

Students must sign a release of information for their parents if they would like any information to be shared. Releases can be signed and submitted through the OAA online portal or email accommodations@salisbury.edu.

Documentation of a disability may include assessments, reports, and/or letters from qualified health care providers, psychologists, or diagnosticians, and/or information from a previous school. For additional information, please review the OAA Documentation Criteria (PDF).
