Faculty impart knowledge to students and evaluate whether students have learned the material by creating assignments and exams that allow the student to demonstrate mastery based on course goals, objectives, and the nature of the curriculum. This resource page guide was created to provide faculty with procedures specific to Salisbury University, and general information about accessibility services that will be helpful as you work with students with disabilities on campus.

Accommodation Information Manager (AIM)

The DRC utilizes Accommodation Information Manager (AIM) to manage student accommodations, appointments, and testing services. Through AIM faculty will be able to:

review DRC Accommodation Letters for all students through the overview feature;
complete DRC Testing Agreements (Note: The contents of the Agreement can be applied to all of the students in that section registered for testing accommodations).

How to View Accommodations for Students Registered with the DRC

Log-in to AIM ( SU username and password-Duo is required)
After logging in each time, you will be required to read over a FERPA Confidentiality Statement before viewing a student’s accommodations. Once you have reviewed the statement, click “Continue to View Student Accommodations”.

Now, you can see an overview of ALL the students in your class who have requested their DRC Accommodation Letters (AL).

Providing Accommodations

When to provide accommodations

When to provide accommodations: Faculty should provide accommodations to students who provide a current DRC Accommodation Letter. The DRC strongly encourages students to have dialogue with each of their faculty members (in-person, virtually, or via email), as early in the semester as possible. Note: If a student offers to provide you a copy of disability-related documentation, such as medical records or a psychoeducational evaluation, please refer the student to the DRC.
Discussion with students regarding their accommodations

Discussion with students regarding their accommodations: Students are encouraged to have dialogue with each of their faculty members (in-person, virtually, or via email) for the purposes of implementing their approved accommodations. During this meeting, students may or may not choose to disclose the nature of their disability (students are not required to disclose). Due to the very personal and private nature of some disabilities, it is important that meetings take place in a location that protects the student’s right to privacy.
Denying/altering accommodations

Denying/altering accommodations: Faculty are not authorized by the University to make decisions regarding a student’s approved reasonable accommodations. However, DRC members are available to consult with faculty on alternatives for ensuring the student’s reasonable accommodations are being met. Please contact the DRC as soon as possible for assistance.

Referring Students to the DRC

Faculty are often the first point of contact for students with disabilities who seek accommodations. You can help students receive the accommodations they may need by doing the following things:

In your syllabus, include the DRC Syllabus Statement for students with disabilities. (Add link)
Announce to all students on the first day of class how they can receive accommodations if needed;
Direct any requests for accommodations to the DRC.
Provide accommodations only to students who provide a current DRC Letter of Accommodations outlining their approved academic accommodations.
