Research Interests
I specialize in 19th and 20th century French literature. I am particularly interested in studying how literary works depict human responses to metaphysical and social discontent. I am currently working on a book manuscript that examines the poetics of the destitute in Modern poetry. In this work, I argue that the poetics of the destitute is not only used as a creative device but also as a way to alleviate human distress and to denounce social inequalities. I am also interested in translation studies, language pedagogy, teaching with technology, course material design and teaching popular culture.
