Bio

Michael Lewis joined the History Department at Salisbury in 2000, and was a founding members of the Environmental Studies Program in 2004. He moved to the Department of Environmental Studies upon its creation in 2012. He held the Wilson H. Elkins Professorship of the University System of Maryland from 2012-14. Professor Lewis has taken students to India four times (where he has conducted much of his own research), and has enjoyed contributing to the department's Chesapeake Bay summer kayaking course. After growing up in Okeechobee, Florida, he has been happy to find a similarly diverse and watery ecosystem in Delmarva to explore with his students, colleagues, family and dogs.
