Xiaohong Wang

Bio

Dr. Xiaohong (Sophie) Wang is a professor and the Chair of Computer Science Department at Salisbury University. She received her B.Sc. (Jilin University, China), M.Sc. and Ph. D. in Computer Science (University of Victoria, CANADA).

She has over twenty years of experience in supporting student learning through innovative teaching methods and adaptive lesson plans and assignments based on various learning styles. She has worked with students and managed over 100 capstone software engineering projects for real world clients. She is the winner of 2020 Salisbury University Alumni Association Faculty Appreciation Award. Dr. Wang has been actively involved in research grant proposal writing and participating in many funded projects as PI and co-PI, and advising undergraduate research projects and honors theses. Since 2021, she has been serving as the inaugural chair of the Computer Science department and demonstrated strong leadership skills in successfully leading an new academic department in new computer science curriculum development, budget and lab infrastructure management, and conflict resolution and important decision making.
