Coping with COVID
The SU Libraries leaped into action to help SU and our community cope with COVID-19. Here are some of the ways we’ve helped not covered in other articles in this newsletter:
3D printing: Our technology librarian, Chris Woodall, used 3D printers in our MakerLab to create prototypes of shields for our local hospitals. The hospitals approved the shields but so far have not needed us to print them in quantity.
Laptops: We have laptops in two of our classrooms as well as circulating laptops. Normally, these must be used in our building. To help students and faculty who don’t have computers at home, we lent out most of our laptops for the duration of the semester.
Health information : Mou Chakraborty, librarian liaison to nursing, social work and respiratory therapy, quickly gathered links to reliable resources on COVID-19 to create a resource guide.
What to do with kids: Bea Hardy, the dean, pulled together a resource guide linking to various activities for children to do at home while their schools are closed.
