Online Author Talks—Free for You

Author Talks Posters

We are always looking for ways to encourage and support reading, whether for school or pleasure. To that end, the SU Libraries have joined the Library Speakers Consortium, which provides online author talks several times each month. The authors represent all manner of genres. See below for the upcoming speakers and dates. Recordings of previous speakers are available as well, including recently Rick Steves, the travel expert; novelist John Irving; Amor Towles, author of A Gentleman in Moscow; and Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, author and co-host of the award-winning Brown Ambition podcast. The talks are free for the SU family—including our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters—so please feel free to sign up at the SU Libraries Online Author Events page. Preregistration is required in order to get the event link. Here are some upcoming speakers:

  • 11/16 at 4 p.m. - Joy Harjo, 23rd US Poet Laureate and poet of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, will discuss her recent memoir
  • 11/30 at 3 p.m. - Naomi Alderman, international bestselling science fiction author, will discuss her new novel, The Future
  • 12/5 at 7 p.m. - Victoria Aveyard, bestselling author of the YA fantasy fiction series Red Queen and Realm Breaker, chats about her work
  • 12/12 at 2 p.m. - Stephanie Land, bestselling author, talks about her new memoir, Class: A Memoir of Motherhood, Hunger, and Higher Education
