Working in the library has many benefits for students. It’s convenient, they learn some key life skills, and, depending on their job, they get to interact with a variety of people. But it also improves their academic performance, as the students in our student worker profiles over the years have testified. One survey (not at SU) found that 82% of student workers believed that working in the library increased their academic success. Other studies suggest that library student workers have higher GPAs than other students. Would that be because smarter students want jobs at the library or because working at the library enables them to learn about all kinds of resources? We’re not sure. What we do know is that our library student workers are great students! We're so proud of these library student workers honored during the 2022-2023 school year for their academic achievement:
