Copyright Assistance
The SU Libraries offer assistance and guidance with copyright questions and intellectual property rights.
The SU Libraries provide copyright assistance for SU faculty in determining if a specific use of a material meets the criteria for fair use or the classroom use exemption; searching for appropriate alternative sources or means of distribution if it does not; and, when necessary, requesting permission to use copyrighted materials. The Libraries also provide guidance on intellectual property rights and assist faculty in understanding and preserving their rights as authors to ensure they can publish, post, archive, and distribute their scholarship more freely. The Libraries do not provide legal advice on copyright law, but can help faculty achieve the standard of care required when it comes to responsibly using materials in the Digital Age.
