Thursday April 7, 2005
SALISBURY, MD---Heeeeeere’s Johnny! The Salisbury University Jazz Ensemble salutes late talk show host Johnny Carson with The Tonight Show theme and other selections in the vein of bandleader Doc Severinsen during the 16th annual SU Variety Show 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 15-16, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The ensemble plays between student, alumni and community acts during the show, hosted by the Student Government Association and Student Organization for Activity Planning. The student organization inaugurates the evenings’ performances with the SU E-Crew’s traditional light show. Some 14 performances highlight the evening, including 10-year-old singer Alex DeMartin, who performs the national anthem during the Delmarva Shorebirds’ home game that Friday. Reggie Holmes of SU Health Services continues the show’s vocal performances with the powerful gospel song His Eye Is on the Sparrow. Other acts include a mix of guitar styles, piano performances, popular campus band Derby Lane, the SU Step Squad and The Untouchables dance group. SU Police Sgt. Kevin Boothe and students Crystal Jenkins, Erica McMonigle and Julius Jones emcee the show. Admission is $5, one free ticket with SU ID. Tickets are on sale in advance at the Event Services Office in the Commons or at the door the night of each performance. The public is invited.
