Dr. Janet Horne Chairs Task Force on Possible Development of a Series of "Kennedy-Goldwater Memorial Debates

SALISBURY, MD--Dr. Janet Horne, associate professor in the Department of Communication Arts at Salisbury State University, was recently appointed chair of a task force to study the development of a series of "Kennedy-Goldwater Memorial Debates" for the National Communication Association’s Political Communication Division.

The Kennedy-Goldwater Memorial Debates would promote civil, issues-oriented discourse in future Presidential campaigns. The Political Communication Division of NCA proposes exploring the feasibility of staging the Kennedy-Goldwater Debates; building a coalition with representatives of other related organizations (such as the League of Women Voters, Common Cause and the Presidential Debates Commission); and investigating the potential for NCA’s support for a Congressional resolution on the matter.

NCA is a not-for-profit corporation which promotes the study of the artistic, humanistic and scientific principles of communication.

Horne has been on the SSU communication arts faculty since 1990.
