Alumni House Displays Art Works by Mark Delaney (deceased) During Homecoming Weekend
SALISBURY, MD--A special art exhibit by the late Mark Delaney, a Salisbury State University 1994 graduate, will be on display at the University's Alumni House on Camden Ave. October 1-3. Exhibit hours are Friday, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-3 p.m. Admissions is free and the public is invited.
Displaying Delaney's utilization of the two printmaking techniques of silkscreen and itching, the exhibit demonstrates his wide range of styles, from realistic through abstract, nearing the non-objective. His arrangement of an image within a format demonstrates the thought that went into the visual dialogue between the artist's statement and the viewer's reading of the image.
Delaney's images made personal statements, often autobiographical. In many of his later works, especially the photo silkscreens, Delaney appears to have emulated Andy Warhol, as the images are set in a grid-like arrangement.
Delaney died in a car accident in 1995.
