High Wind Warning Until 8 a.m. Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning until 8 a.m. Friday, October 12. Winds from 25-35 mph are predicted, with gusts up to 60 mph possible, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Michael pass through the region.
Please use caution when traveling. Strong wind combined with heavy rain can cause downed trees and scattered power outages. Sustained winds of 40 mph or gusts over 58 mph may lead to property damage, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service has extended a tornado watch to include Wicomico County until 11 p.m. this evening. There also is a high wind warning in effect until 8 a.m. Friday, October 12. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible as the remnants of Tropical Storm Michael pass through the region.

SALISBURY, MD---Consistent with earlier reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting severe weather for Wicomico County and surrounding areas tonight, Thursday, October 11, through Friday, October 12, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Michael pass through the region.
Thunderstorms with 3-4 inches of rain are predicted (heaviest between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.), with sustained winds from 23-28 mph expected after midnight. Gusts may be as high as 45 mph, the NWS said.
A flash flood watch and coastal flood advisory continue. The NWS has issued a wind advisory from 6 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday. The weather is expected to clear by Friday evening.
Salisbury University is monitoring the storm’s path. At this time, classes and activities are expected to continue as scheduled. Those traveling, however, are encouraged to use caution when driving, watching for fallen trees and flooded roadways, especially in coastal areas.

The heaviest rains are expected from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.
A flash flood watch continues from 2 p.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday. A coastal flood advisory has been issued for the Eastern Shore during that time, as well.
A wind advisory continues from 6 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday. Sustained winds up to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are predicted. These conditions may lead to fallen trees and isolated power outages, according to the NWS.
The storm is expected to be out of the area by Friday evening. Salisbury University continues to monitor its path. At this time, classes and activities are expected to continue as scheduled.

SALISBURY, MD---The National Weather Service (NWS) has added a flash flood watch and wind advisory for Wicomico County and surrounding areas Thursday and Friday, October 11-12, as the remnants of Hurricane Michael are expected to reach the area.
The flood watch is 2 p.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday. Some 2-3 inches of rain are expected to fall beginning Thursday afternoon before tapering off to showers on Friday morning, the NWS said.
The wind advisory is 6 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday. Sustained winds up to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are predicted. These conditions may lead to fallen trees and isolated power outages, according to the NWS.
Salisbury University continues to monitor the storm’s path. At this time, classes and activities are expected to continue as scheduled.

SALISBURY, MD---The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wicomico County and surrounding areas Thursday evening into Friday morning, October 11-12.
As the remnants of Hurricane Michael reach the area during that time, tropical storm-force winds with gusts up to 40-50 mph and heavy rainfall are expected, according to the NWS. This could lead to minor flooding and other issues.
Salisbury University is monitoring the path of the storm as it begins to impact Florida panhandle. At this time, SU classes and activities are expected to continue as scheduled.
