'Remake/Remodel' Exhibit Opens August 20

SALISBURY, MD---The two-person exhibition “REMAKE/REMODEL” features artists Heather Harvey and Aurora Robson, who both use waste to form artworks and installations that reimagine personal memories, explore how objects carry meaning, and draw attention to environmental and philosophical issues.

Their works are on display August 20-October 27 at the University Gallery of Salisbury University’s Fulton Hall. An artist talk with Harvey is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 27, in the University Gallery. A reception follows.

Harvey, whose works are made from trash and other discarded materials found during her daily walks, has exhibited at galleries throughout the U.S., including The Painting Center in New York and San Francisco’s PLAYSPACE. Chair of the Art and Art History Department and associate professor of art and studio coordinator at Washington College, she has earned honors including a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship and SustainableArts Foundation Grant.

Robson, who creates colorful, biomorphic sculptures and installations from recycled plastic, also has exhibited nationally at galleries including New York’s Rockland Center for the Arts and the Rice Gallery in Houston. Her work has been featured in publications including WIRED and Art in America. The founder of the international artist collective Project Vortex, she also has earned honors including a National Endowment for the Arts ART WORKS Grant and the TED/Lincoln Re-Imagine Prize.
