'Green Book' Presentation at SU
SALISBURY, MD---In their eponymous 2018 Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film, Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen introduced a new generation to the “Green Book.”
Maira Liriano, associate chief librarian, and Makiba Foster, assistant chief librarian in the Jean Blackwell Huston Research and Reference Division of the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture discuss the guide’s history and use Wednesday, February 20, at Salisbury University.
Their presentation is 7 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
From 1936-1966, the vital reference served as a travel guide for African Americans in the U.S., listing hotels, restaurants, bars, service stations and other locations where they would be welcomed.
