Cherly Halliburton To Teach A Movement class in African-Based Dance at SU
SALISBURY, MD---Visiting guest artist Cheryl Halliburton teaches a movement class in African-based dance 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Salisbury University.
A showing of her work-in-progress choreography for the SU Dance Company and a question-and-answer session follows from 5-5:30 p.m. Both are in Blackwell Hall Room 202.
An associate professor emeritus and former dance studies program director at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, Halliburton currently teaches at Adelphi University. Her research delves into African influence on American cultural and dance, as well as dance education as intervention and a motivator for at-risk youth. She served as the lead dancer and choreographer for Philadelphia’s New World African Dance Company and has performed with Baltimore’s Full Circle Dance Company.
