Society of Actuaries Renews Approval of SU Actuarial Science Track Components
SALISBURY, MD---The Society of Actuaries (SOA) recently renewed its approval of the economics and accounting/corporate finance components in the actuarial science track of Salisbury University’s Mathematics Program.
“Having this approval from the Society of Actuaries is a notable credential and reflects the quality of our mathematics major,” said Dr. Michael Scott, dean of SU’s Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology.
“Economics and finance are important foundations for actuarial sciences and having the courses renewed as Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) strengthens our actuarial science track,” said Dr. Donald Spickler, chair of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department.
The SOA is the world’s largest actuarial professional organization with more than 30,000 actuaries as members. Through education and research, the SOA advances actuaries as leaders in measuring and managing risk to improve financial outcomes for individuals, organizations, and the public.
