SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University is celebrating the following recent student successes:

Fried Presents Top Three Poster at National TASH Conference

A disability advocacy research poster by senior conflict analysis and dispute resolution (CADR) major Will Fried of Bethesda, MD, was named the top self-advocacy poster at the recent national conference of the international advocacy association for people with disabilities, TASH.

This year’s conference theme was “Building Diverse and Inclusive Communities.” Competing against Ph.D. candidates and university faculty from throughout the U.S., Fried presented “The Clash of Disability and Extracurricular Collegiate Student Life.”

Guyon Publishes with International Mediation Institute

CADR master’s student Arnaud Guyon of Fruitland, MD, recently published his first article, “What to Wear? Mediator Attire in International Contexts,” on the website of the International Mediation Institute.

Stemming from a paper written for a CADR class taught by Dr. Brian Polkinghorn, the article is the result of Guyon’s research on the importance of apparel in projecting neutrality, credibility and other qualities in international and intercultural mediation. Guyon also is a graduate assistant in SU’s Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity.

Voithofer selected for Posters on the Hill Presentation

Senior biology and psychology major Gabrielle Voithofer of California, MD, has been accepted to present her academic research at the 24th annual Posters on the Hill event, hosted by the Council on Undergraduate Research in Washington, D.C.

Scheduled in April, the event provides undergraduates from across the country with an opportunity to share research with members of Congress and their staffers. Voithofer’s submission, “Finding Therapeutic Targets to Reverse Nerve Degeneration Associated with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy,” was one of only 60 selected for presentation.

Her research mentor is Dr. Jessica Clark, assistant professor of biological sciences and co-director of OURCA. Voithofer also is a member of SU’s Honors College and an OURCA Undergraduate Research Fellow.
