Bosserman UNESCO Fellow Rana to Discuss 'Rebel-Military Integration in Nepal' October 19
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Pranay Rana, Bosserman UNESCO Fellow, presents “Rebel-Military Integration in Nepal: A Case Study Examining the Functional Elements in the Program Used to Integrate Maoists Combatants in the Nepali Army” 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, in Salisbury University’s Perdue Hall, Room 151.
His talk is the next presentation in SU’s Bosserman Center for Conflict Resolution lecture series.
Rana, from Katmandu, Nepal, is a scholar and practitioner of conflict resolution and peace. He has 19 years of experience in diverse professions and has provided consultancy services to the military, federal and local-level agencies, and NGOs and INGOs in research and evaluation, professional military education (PME), elections monitoring and local governance, conflict management, and public health.
He and Dr. Brian Polkinghorn, SU professor of conflict analysis and dispute resolution and executive director of the Bosserman Center, have worked in Nepal on a variety of issues ranging from combatant reintegration, hydropower development and brokering COVID-19 vaccine acquisition.
Rana currently provides freelance consulting and educational services in Nepal and the U.S. He also serves as a researcher of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the Nepali Army and is a visiting faculty at King's College, Nepal, and affiliate of Westcliff University, in the U.S.
Admission is free and the public is invited. All attendees at SU events are required to wear a mask while in the audience, regardless of vaccination status. Attendees may be asked to leave an event for non-compliance.
Attendees also must complete an online COVID-19 screening on the day of their visit, prior to coming to the SU campus.
