SU Hosts ‘The Art and Science of Running for Office’ Series

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE) provides those thinking about running for public office with an introduction to the process through its virtual series “The Art and Science of Running for Office” March 1-14.

The two-week series includes 10 sessions, providing a complete overview. Presentations also offer information for future campaign activists seeking to make substantive contributions to electoral efforts.

Coordinated by SU political science alumnus George Rakis, sessions include:

• Monday, March 1, 6 p.m. – Keynote by Martin O’Malley, former governor of Maryland
• Tuesday, March 2, 6 p.m. – Civic Reflection with Dr. Alexander Pope, PACE co-director
• Tuesday, March 2, 6:30 p.m. – “Intro to Campaign Planning” with George Rakis and Lucinda Ware
• Thursday, March 4, 6 p.m. – “Electoral Targeting” with Tom Bonior
• Saturday, March 6, 11 a.m. – “Campaign Organizing” with Chuck Cook and David Sloan
• Monday, March 8, 6 p.m. – “Asking for Money” with Megan Chambers
• Tuesday, March 9, 6 p.m. – “Message Development” with Shelia O’Connell and Jen Burton
• Wednesday, March 10, 6 p.m. – “Digital Organizing” with Josh Koster
• Thursday, March 11, 6 p.m. – “Plan Writing and Wrap-Up” with George Rakis and Lucinda Ware
• Thursday, March 11, 7 p.m. – Closing session with Dr. Alexander Pope
