SU Hosts ‘Migrant Writings and Hybrid Bodies in the U.S.’ Presentation
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Modern Languages and Intercultural Studies Department hosts the presentation “Escrituras migrantes y cuerpos híbridos en Estados Unidos” (“Migrant Writings and Hybrid Bodies in the U.S.”) in Spanish 6 p.m. Thursday, September 30, in Conway Hall Room 152.
Peruvian-American writer Oswaldo Estrada discusses today’s new literary boom in the U.S., his own experiences as an immigrant and writing in Spanish as an act of resistance. His talk includes a reading of some of his short stories.
Estrada is professor of Latin American literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has authored and edited more than a dozen books of literary and cultural criticism. As a writer of fiction, he has earned the International Latino and Latin American Book Fair Prize from Tufts University and the International Latino Book Award for two of his collections.
Admission is free and the public is invited.
All attendees at Salisbury University events are required to wear a mask while in the audience, regardless of vaccination status. Attendees may be asked to leave an event for non-compliance.
