SU Remains Closed January 29-31

SALISBURY, MD---As crews work to clear campus, Salisbury University will remain closed Sunday-Monday, January 30-31.

Essential personnel should report to work on campus as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor.
Students and employees should refrain from parking in main campus lots until 10 a.m. January 30 to allow snow and ice removal to continue. Slippery spots are expected to remain on campus over the next few days. Please use caution.
Residence halls will reopen for move-in 1-5 p.m. January 30 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. January 31. Students planning to move in that day are encouraged to check road conditions before traveling and exercise caution.
The COVID-19 testing center in Holloway Hall will reopen for students still needing a return-to-campus test from noon-5 p.m. January 30 and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. January 31. Appointments already scheduled during those times will be honored. Those without appointments during those times may just walk in.
The SU Bookstore will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. January 30-31.
Orientation will continue to operate in a virtual format. Please visit https://info.salisbury.edu/first-flight for the most current schedule.
Classes are canceled Monday, January 31.
The Commons will continue to operate during limited hours: 9-10 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5-7:30 p.m. for dinner.

SALISBURY, MD---Safety remains the highest priority at Salisbury University. In response to the blizzard warning issued for Wicomico County and surrounding areas Friday-Saturday, January 28-29, SU is taking the following precautions:

FOR EMPLOYEES

All campus operational buildings and offices will close at 6 p.m. Friday, January 28. Essential personnel should report to work on campus as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor. Please watch your SU email for reopening information.
After 6 p.m. Friday, all employees should avoid parking on main campus in an effort to facilitate plowing.

FOR STUDENTS

Move-in and COVID-19 testing will be suspended from 6 p.m. January 28, until 10 a.m. Sunday, January 30.
Move-in for students living in campus housing remains open until then. Those unable to be on campus by 6 p.m. January 28 should shelter in place at home and plan to move in after 10 a.m. January 30. Those already en route to campus with a scheduled arrival time after 6 p.m. January 28 will be allowed to move in, but should plan to take their SU-administered COVID-19 return-to-campus test as soon as testing reopens at 10 a.m. January 30.
Students who have a COVID-19 test scheduled between 6 p.m. January 28 and 10 a.m. January 30 will be eligible for walk-in testing once the center reopens at 10 a.m. January 30. All students will still be required to have a return-to-campus test on file to access their residence halls and attend in-person classes on Monday.
In addition, all campus recreation facilities, including Maggs Physical Activities Center and the University Fitness Center, as well as the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons, will be closed from 6 p.m. January 28 until 10 a.m. Sunday, January 30. The SU Bookstore also will reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday.
For those already on campus, the Commons will open 9-10 a.m. January 29 for breakfast, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5-6:30 p.m. for dinner. Cool Beans cybercafe will open from noon-7:30 p.m. January 29. Chick-fil-A will be closed January 29.
Those normally parking on campus should move their vehicles to the East Campus parking garage by noon January 28, to allow preparation for plowing of campus lots. (Vehicles will be permitted on campus for move-in, but should be relocated to the garage as soon as possible.) Should the garage fill, overflow parking will be available at the former Court Plaza shopping center, 1506 S. Salisbury Blvd.

Students should continue to monitor their SU email for schedule adjustments.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting heavy snow with an accumulation of 8-12 inches in Wicomico County and surrounding areas from 7 p.m. January 28 until 7 p.m. January 29. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will increase the possibility of falling branches and power outages that may last beyond that time. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. Those who must travel are encouraged to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicles.

The NWS is forecasting heavy snow with total accumulations from 5-10 inches, along with wind gusts up to 45 mph, adding the potential for falling branches and power outages. Travel is expected to become difficult. Those who must travel are encouraged to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicles in case of emergency.

At this time, University operations, including orientation activities, are expected to continue as planned. Students should monitor their SU email for schedule adjustments. Please monitor the SU website, as well as the University’s official Facebook and Twitter sites, for any updates.

The NWS is forecasting the possibility of heavy snow with total accumulations from 6-10 inches and locally higher amounts, along with wind gusts up to 45 mph, adding the potential for falling branches. Roadways and sidewalks may become slippery. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution.

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University is monitoring a potential winter storm that may impact Wicomico County and surrounding areas Friday-Saturday, January 28-29. At this time, University operations are expected to continue as scheduled.

Move-in for residential students has been extended to begin 9 a.m. Thursday, January 27, for those who would like to move into their residence halls early. Students enrolled in campus housing should watch their SU emails for information on extended move-in dates and required COVID-19 testing.

Students bringing their personal vehicles to campus should park in the East Campus parking garage to facilitate plowing of main campus parking lots. Should the garage fill up, overflow parking will be available at the former Court Plaza shopping center, 1506 S. Salisbury Blvd.
