SU Banned Books Week Event October 6

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Libraries brings attention to historical and current attempts to censor books during its annual Banned Books Week event 2-6 p.m. Friday, October 6, at the Dr. Ernie Bond Curriculum Center in Conway Hall. A virtual option also is available.

Kelly Jensen, editor at Book Riot, the largest independent book website in North America, delivers the keynote address. She covers young adult literature and has written about censorship for almost 10 years.

A panel discussion with faculty and literature experts follows, along with a youth art display.

The event commemorates Banned Books Week (October 1-6), focusing on the impact censoring books can have and underscoring the importance of the freedom to read.

Sponsored by SU Libraries, Wicomico Public Libraries and the Eastern Shore Regional Library, admission is free and the public is invited. To register, visit the event website
