Brazilian Group Duovau Performs at SU April 27

SALISBURY, MD---Brazilian musical group Duovau performs 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Great Hall of Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall.

Musicians Levi Ramiro and Esdras Rodrigues take the audience through evocative Brazilian musical genres, exploring their rich, expressive and rhythmic content, and establishing a connection with the geographical, social and cultural aspects of their home country. This unique music is not part of mainstream Brazilian music.

Ramiro and Rodrigues perform on the viola brasileira and rabeca brasileira, unique instruments found throughout Brazil, but not limited to any one genres of music.

A self-taught musician, Ramiro chose the viola brasileira as his main vehicle and expresses his perceptions of the poetry and simplicity of countryside life, using the values and formative elements of Brazilian music. A winner of national music prizes, he has recorded and performed throughout Brazil, sharing his music with many artists and releasing 11 CDs (and directed seven others).

A career violinist with vast experience with orchestras, chamber music and teaching, Rodrigues has significant participation in albums, shows and concerts, performing in historical performance and contemporary, Brazilian and concert music. He has toured in the U.S., Germany, Australia, Greece, Mexico, Singapore and Vietnam.
