SU Donates 1,000 COVID-19 Test Kits to Lower Shore Vulnerable Populations Task Force

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University recently donated 1,000 COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits to the Lower Shore Vulnerable Populations Task Force for use by area homeless shelters.

While mass COVID-19 testing is no longer required at most local shelters, those who exhibit symptoms or report exposure to the virus may be tested as a condition for admission or to determine the need for medical treatment.

The task force will make the donated tests available to local organizations providing services for homeless populations, including the HOPE Center, Hands and Hearts Ending Homelessness, Fenix Youth Project, Salisbury Christian Shelter, Salisbury Housing First, Rebirth Inc., the Haitian Community Development Center, CATA Inc., Habitat for Humanity, the Migrant Clinicians Network and Tri-Community Mediation.

SU currently provides free tests for students and employees who wish to test for COVID-19 after exhibiting symptoms or learning of exposure. Tests donated to the task force are set to expire during the University’s upcoming summer break, when demand on campus typically is at its lowest.

This is SU’s second time donating COVID-19 tests to the task force, following a December 2021 contribution of some 4,000 tests that were set to expire during that year’s winter break.
