'Wall Street Journal,' College Pulse Again Rank SU Among 'Best Colleges in the U.S.'

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University is one of the top 400 higher education institutions in the nation for setting its graduates up for financial success.

That’s the assessment of The Wall Street Journal and College Pulse. For the second consecutive year, the nation’s financial newspaper of record and the marketing research firm that calls itself “the voice of college students” have included SU in their joint ranking of the 584 “Best Colleges in the U.S.”

“While we’re proud of every national recognition Salisbury University receives, this one is especially meaningful because it highlights the success of our graduates,” said SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. “Rankings like this demonstrate the lasting impact of an SU education on the lives and careers of our alumni.”

“At Salisbury, our rigorous academic programs and dedicated faculty give students the knowledge, experiences, and confidence to excel in business, health care, science, the arts, education, and countless other fields across the nation. This recognition underscores the real and enduring value of an SU degree.”

SU also placed highly in several sub-categories of the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse rankings, including:

  • Best Value – Based on average time to pay off the net price of attendance;
  • Social Mobility - Highest proportion of students coming from lower-income families while maintaining high graduation rates, lower cost of attendance, and positive impact on alumni salaries;
  • Student Experience – Based on one of the largest independent surveys of verified college students and recent graduates in the U.S.; and
  • Best Salaries – Impact on graduates’ salaries in relation to cost of attendance. This ranking ascribes an added value of more than $33,000 to the salary of those earning an SU degree.

The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse ranking is the latest accolade the University has received in recent weeks. SU has been named among the nation’s “Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report, one of The Best 391 Colleges by The Princeton Review, among the country’s top master’s-level and “Best Bang for the Buck” institutions by Washington Monthly, and one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes. Money magazine also ranked SU among “The Best Colleges in America.”
