SU's Young Named Top Corporate Fundraiser for Best Buddies Walk
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University freshman Edie Young of Washington, D.C., recently was named the top corporate fundraiser for the 2026 Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Washington, D.C.
Young raised nearly $6,700 for the cause through her organization We Are Artistic, a creative collective connecting artists throughout the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area.
The incoming president of SU’s Best Buddies club, Young had the opportunity at the walk to meet a former SU Best Buddies member, WJLA meteorologist Eileen Whelan ’09, who featured the elementary education major among other attendees during media coverage of the event.
A part of Best Buddies International, the SU chapter is dedicated to the organization’s mission of establishing a global volunteer movement creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Taking place on the National Mall, the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Washington, D.C., was one of 80 scheduled throughout the U.S. and around the world this year to raise funds for and awareness of the organization. The event drew more than 2,200 participants, raising more than $400,000.
