Actor Tim Reid Speaks at Salisbury University October 24

class=""MsoNormal"">The Emmy-nominated actor, director and producer discusses his time spent in the industry and offers his personal insights into the entertainment media as it relates to African Americans during “An Evening with Tim Reid” 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 24, in Holloway Hall Auditorium at Salisbury University.
class=""MsoNormal"">Born and raised in Norfolk, VA, Reid first tasted stardom when he partnered with Tom Dreesen to form a comedic act for nightclubs. However, after six years, the partnership failed and Reid began to set his sights on acting.
class=""MsoNormal"">Landing a role on CBS’ WKRP in Cincinnati as “Venus Flytrap” propelled Reid’s career to a new level, helping him gain a solid national fan base.
class=""MsoNormal"">He has appeared in and written for shows including Simon & Simon, Frank’s Place and Snoops. More recently, he is known for his role as the comedic father on the series Sister, Sister.
class=""MsoNormal"">In 1988, Reid received Emmy nominations for Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Producer in a Comedy series. He received the NAACP Image award and the Viewers for Quality Television Award for best actor in a comedy.
class=""MsoNormal"">Less than a decade later, Reid built his own film studio, New Millennium Studio, in Petersburg, Va. Its first feature production was Asunder, starring Blair Underwood and Debbi Morgan. Two years later, he received the Oscar Micheaux Award from the Producers Guild of America for lifetime outstanding achievement.
class=""MsoNormal"">Reid has been recognized by many organizations for his talent and contributions to the community. He received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from his alma mater, Norfolk State University, as well as from Virginia State University.
