Christine Sarbanes Remembered
The late Christine Sarbanes (right) with her brother- and sister-in-law Tony and Billye Sarbanes, and husband, Paul, during a visit to Salisbury University in April 2007 for the Paul S. Sarbanes Lecture Series.
“Christine Sarbanes was a lovely and gracious lady who frequently accompanied her husband, Paul, on visits to Salisbury University when he spoke or introduced distinguished congressional colleagues who were speaking in the lecture series named in his honor. She always radiated intelligence and a sensitive concern for others. It's not surprising that, as an educator, she particularly gravitated toward students in SU’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement whose work in politics and in public service she enthusiastically encouraged.
“The Sarbanes name is indelibly linked to our region and the loss of Christine is felt by all. Here at SU we will treasure her memory. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Paul, their children and grandchildren, and to all the members of the Sarbanes family, particularly Tony and Billye, who are so much a part of our campus and community.”
