'Fact or Fake? Media Literacy in Politics' Panel Discussion November 14

SALISBURY, MD---What is “fake news?” Why is it so problematic for the media industry and for society? What can be done to combat this issue?

Salisbury University faculty and members of the media address these questions and more during the panel discussion “Fact or Fake? Media Literacy in Politics” 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, in SU’s Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall.

Panelists include Dr. Jennifer Cox, SU associate professor of communication arts; Jeremy Cox, Daily Times reporter; Justina Coronel, 47 ABC reporter and producer; and Don Rush, Delmarva Public Radio news director. Lexi Gramates, president of SU’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, moderates.

Audience members have the opportunity to test their own ability to determine factual news stories from fake ones and learn how to fact-check political information. A question-and-answer session follows.
