Ference Speaks at International Chech Conference

SALISBURY, MD---Gregory C. Ference, professor of history in Salisbury University’s Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, recently gave a presentation at an international conference in the Czech Republic.

The invited talk took place at the 23rd World Congress of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU) at the University of Southern Bohemia in the city of Èeské Budéjovice, under the aegis of Václav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, and Ivan Gasparoviè, president of the Slovak Republic. 

The central theme of the meeting was “Czech and Slovak Culture and Science in International Context.”  Ference spoke on the 1914-1915 memorandum of the Slovak League, outlining the injustices carried out by the Hungarian government against the Slovaks and demanding greater civil rights for the Slovak nation in Austria-Hungary.
