Gerald Clayton Trio Performs at SU Thursday, September 22
SALISBURY, MD---Pianist Gerald Clayton, drummer Justin Brown and bass player Joe Sanders hear music differently than most jazz musicians.
The members of the Grammy-nominated Gerald Clayton Trio often look beyond the ideals of traditional jazz, mixing influences including neo-soul and hip-hop to produce a one-of-a-kind sound.
The group brings their unique music to Salisbury University 7 p.m. Thursday, September 22, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The performance is part of SU’s “Fusion” cultural events series.
The Los Angeles Times says the trio infuses an “enthusiastic feeling of exhilaration” in everything it plays. The New York Times calls Clayton “terrific.”
The group’s appearance at SU is funded through the American Masterpieces Program of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council.
Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
