Green Earth Author Todd Parr Visits Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD---Author/illustrator Todd Parr has published some 30 whimsical picture books, including two New York Times bestsellers:  The Earth Book and The I LOVE YOU Book.  The Earth Book is a 2011 winner of the Newton Marasco Foundation’s national Green Earth Book Award, given annually at Salisbury University.

Armed with an easel, paper and markers, Parr recently gave students at Wicomico Early Learning Center and Pemberton Elementary School an inside look at illustration and writing.  He read some of his books and answered their questions during the interactive visits.

Ironically, Parr failed high school art class, but as an adult, his work on children’s books has earned him accolades including the Parent’s Choice Award and three Oppenheim Gold awards.  His TLC/Discovery Kids show, ToddWorld, was nominated for an Emmy.  Parr supports several charities promoting reading, the protection of children and families, and animal care.
