'Guitar in the Gallery' Returns to SU March 23
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Guitar in the Gallery program returns for a second season this semester.
Guest artist Jaan Rannik, performs 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall. A master class with SU guitar students follows. The series, directed by Dr. Danielle Cumming of the Department of Music, presents emerging classical guitarists in recital.
Rannik is a 2007 graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of acclaimed performer and instructor Julian Gray, whom he now serves as a graduate assistant in the master’s program. In 2009, he took top prizes in solo competitions in Montreal, Canada, and Greenville, NC.
He has played in master classes with internationally distinguished guitarists such as Pepe Romero, Jason Vieaux, William Kanengiser, Raphäella Smits, Richard Stone, Ray Chester and Manuel Barrueco, and performs with noted guitarist Mark Edwards as Duo Jocoso. Rannik also serves on the faculty of the International School of Music in Bethesda, MD, and the Artist Music Education Center in Perry Hall, MD.
