Gullstock to Raise Funds for Haitian Earthquake Relief Wednesday, May 1
SALISBURY, MD---Thousands are still displaced in Haiti following the massive 2010 earthquake in that country.
Salisbury University’s Student Activism Club is asking members of the campus and surrounding community to aid those victims and have fun in the process during its second annual Gullstock concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
Performers include student bands Camden Lights and France the Band, as well as campus organizations such as the SU Poms, Squawkapella and Untouchables Dance, Inc., among others. A suggested $5 donation is requested at the door. T-shirts featuring the concert logo will be available for $12. Gift certificates and other items from local stores and restaurants will be auctioned off, as well, at a cost of $2 per ticket.
In addition, online donations are being accepted at http://www.crowdrise.com/StudentActivismClubSU. All proceeds benefit J/P Haitian Relief Organization. The club has set a goal of raising $10,000.
“Any little bit helps,” said Elena Ramirez, president of the Student Activism Club. “Donate $5 you would spend on something unnecessary and ask your friends to do the same. You can make a difference no matter how much you donate.”
