Hidden Treasures Half Marathon Crosses City, SU
SALISBURY, MD---The first Hidden Treasures Half Marathon & 5K Race takes runners across Wicomico County and the City of Salisbury, and through the Salisbury University campus, on Sunday, September 12.
The 13.1 mile route provides participants with a scenic tour of “hidden treasures” in the local community. With a start and finish at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, the course follows the Wicomico River through Salisbury City Park, around downtown Salisbury, into historic neighborhoods and directly through the beautiful SU campus, which is a national arboretum. From there, runners make their way back to the finish via city and county neighborhoods and back roads. Spectators may watch the finish from the upper level of the Civic Center.
The event begins with opening ceremonies at 7:45 a.m. at the Civic Center. The Half Marathon starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K takes off at 8:30 a.m. Participants may also visit a Sports & Fitness Expo 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, September 11, at the Civic Center. The expo features running and health related vendors, and race packet pick-up.
Organized by the Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism Office, the Hidden Treasures Half Marathon & 5K Race is presented by Gateway Subaru. Other sponsors include Healthy U of Delmarva at SU, Fresh N Fruity and Peninsula Orthopedic Associates. Participants receive an Under Armour Tech Shirt and post-race refreshments.
