Learn to 'Start and Manage Your Own Business' at SU Aug. 31
SALISBURY, MD---“How to Start and Manage Your Own Business” is a one-day course designed to help new and potential business owners achieve start-up success by covering six critical business areas. The next session is 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Thursday, August 31, on the second floor of the Commons at Salisbury University.
A business counselor discusses the importance and basics of writing a business plan and provides a business plan template. An insurance specialist highlights the types of insurance small business owners need. An attorney provides information on forming a corporation and the legal reasons to use different types of business structures. A marketing expert shares marketing plan ideas and gives examples of proven marketing techniques. A banker explains how to obtain financing from any financial institution and foster a positive relationship with a bank. An accountant covers the different types of bookkeeping methods and accurate record keeping.
Sponsored by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an outreach program of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University and Chesapeake College, the course is an opportunity to learn from many professionals in one day. Registration is $40 and includes lunch and materials.
