Friday November 19, 2004
SALISBURY, MD—Dawn Manyfeathers, a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribe of New Jersey, speaks on "Wild Edible Plants" 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University. Manyfeathers is founder of the Lenapehauken Education and Research Center, Inc. and uses the organization to educate the public on “the Eastern Woodland Indian ways,” she says. Manyfeathers teaches more than 100 community programs each year including workshops on beadwork and identifying wild and medicinal plants, in addition to correcting common misconceptions about Native Americans. Manyfeathers is also a traditional Lenape storyteller and serves as American Indian clergy at local hospitals. Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Studies, her presentation is free and the public is invited.
