NSCA Recognizes SU Applied Health Physiology Program

SALISBURY, MD---The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has included Salisbury University in its Education Recognition Program honoring SU’s work in exercise and sports science, such as the master’s program in Applied Health Physiology. For careers in strength and conditioning, students also need a more formal education in areas such as anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and nutrition. SU has met the curriculum requirements for such areas as established by the NSCA, the leading authority on strength training and conditioning. As a result, students interested in the strength and conditioning field can now quickly determine which institutions have met the proper NSCA standards. “The Education Recognition Program is the first recognition of its kind that provides academic institutions with a tool to attract students who are interested in pursuing a career in strength training and conditioning,” said Michael Barnes, NSCA education director. “With the expansion of the program into the graduate level, more students, and schools, will benefit.” Since its inception three years ago, the NSCA program has recognized 47 institutions worldwide for their superior strength and conditioning programs.
